It was obvious Sabrina was doomed once they wheeled her into Genoa City Memorial Hospital. Few patients live to tell the tale. And despite Victor's claim that without his generous donations they'd still be a "backwater clinic," as he put it, it looks like they still fall short of being even competent. On some level even he must realize it, since whenever one of his family members is admitted (which happens quite a lot) he's immediately demanding specialists be flown in from around the world.

Imagine the surprises awaiting those specialists when they get an eyeful of what goes on there. Can you just picture it? "Take me to the ICU!" they must bellow upon arrival. And then they are led to . . . one room. One tiny, tiny room with less medical equipment than can be found in my garage. Seriously, I'm surprised there's not a lawn mower and a weed wacker in there. This is an ICU? Where are the doctors, nurses, and other patients? Where is the machine that goes "ping?"

"Show me the patient!" the specialists must assuredly next demand. Is this she? She of the fatal car accident and the lacerated liver? But, her makeup is flawless! Shiny, glossy lips; generously applied mascara and eye liner, blush, base and concealer. Practically glowing on death's door - does she use Jabot products? What a great advertisement she would make. Expecting to be in a life endangering car accident? Be sure to use Jabot for that "just left the gala" look in the ER.

But alas, by day 2, Sabrina's makeup had been wiped away. And just when she needed it the most. Good God I hope this was the first time Victor ever saw her without it otherwise she'd never have been his bride to begin with. Not that the marriage turned out to be exactly a boon for her as it turns out. Heck, she was better off with that phony French guy and his scarf. Getting involved with the Newmans is never a good idea.

I sure hope when I die there aren't dozens of strangers standing around watching me. If Sabrina hadn't died I hope she would have sued. That so-called ICU didn't even have a crash cart on hand when she went into cardiac arrest - the doctor had to tell the nurse to go get it. Where do they keep it, in the broom closet?

Hospitals aren't the only institution lacking professionalism in Genoa City. The cops are not to be relied upon either. Even though Nikki was wheeled in for an overdose of an un-prescribed and illegal drug she was able to walk out of there without ever being questioned by the police where she got it. She could have been snorting cocaine and shooting up heroin and they would have just flushed her out with fluids and sent her on her way, no questions asked.

And even though the police cordoned off the crash site, civilians like Paul and Heather were free to come and go, examine evidence, look at morgue photos and hypothesize upon the circumstances. All with the willing help of the cops. I guess even they seem to realize that without the help of strangers and passers-by, they'd never solve a case.

Then the DA's office decided to re-hire Heather. Just because her father did all the leg work and finally figured out who killed Ji Min Kim and let her take the credit for it. It shouldn't have been too hard for anybody to figure out Heather really didn't do anything. Hell, Paul told Nikki, Victoria and Katherine he discovered that David was the murderer before he decided to let Heather make an ass out of herself by waltzing into the Jabot board room and pretend she was the one to solve the case - right in front of Katherine who had already been told the news by Paul. Katherine must have been wondering where she'd heard that before.

Of course, Jabot will always take the cake when it comes to incompetence. On the verge of trouble once more, it was rather laughable of Jill to try assuring reporters that the firm would remain "strong and healthy" despite the latest in a long string of setbacks dating back as far as I can remember. In fact I don't ever even recall a time when Jabot was successful in all the years I've been watching this show. It's always one scandal or mismanagement after another. After numerous hostile takeovers, failed products and a poisoned cream scare that possibly killed a woman, news that a CEO was a gambler is kind of a shoulder shrugger.

And where the hell did this gaggle of reporters come from anyway? There's got to be like one newspaper in this one horse town yet you'd think Paris Hilton was going to jail again the way a swarm of them showed up out of the blue for this dumb press conference. Why weren't they covering the Sabrina deathwatch at the hospital? Isn't Jabot going under old news? Then again so is a dying Newman. They must have to flip a coin every time either one of those situations comes up.
