Remember when Eric
Braeden (Victor Newman) was all pissy about those damn suits at Sony not
showing him any respect, saying contracts aren't worth the paper they're
written on, and that "family" is just a lot of bullshit? Now that Braeden
has been retained how the tune has changed. "Let's just say there was a
meeting of the minds," Braeden said, his face cracking from the big smile.
What is it that makes that work? Could it be - forgiveness? Like I'm sorry I
was drunk while driving, ran someone down and killed him, will you please
find it in your heart to forgive me?
"Very often if one feels very angry about something, there is a certain
moment of reflection, and then you are ready to reach out again to that
person. There just has to be a willingness to come to some form of
reconciliation. It's called forgiveness. There is a point where you say,
'It's okay. I forgive myself and I forgive others.' Only that way can people
heal," says Braeden.
Oh shit. Let's try again. I forgive the doctor for pumping toxic chemicals
into my stricken with lung cancer wife and when she died the doctor couldn't
be bothered to offer his condolences, but did have his grubby bill
collectors make a demand for payment just a few days later. Did that help me
"heal"? Should I "reach out" to the doctor?
Braeden still thinks he should have been shown more respect. "I should not
look at them (Sony) as simply a corporation and they should not look at me
as a cog in the wheel. Humanize the process."
Eric, my man, that's exactly what they did. It's called modern day
humanization.
Pleased to be back as the great Victor Newman, he hints it's gonna be
"awkward" going back to work. "I assume it's like going through a divorce,"
he actually said. Yeah, but what of that wonderful "family" of co-workers?
Won't they forgive and forget? Aren't they humanized?
Now that Victor is back, what can the residents of Genoa City expect? "He
has got to come back and kick ass!" Braeden said of his character, vengeance
and hate same as it's always been.
In, Out, Braeden Concedes
An
unidentified "spokesman" for Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) has been quoted
as saying that Braeden will accept a cut in pay and stay on as Victor
Newman. Is this a massively deranged ratings ploy?

Whatever Happened To?
Just the
other day people were asking whatever happened to the asexual Phillip
Chancellor III when word from the street came in that Thom Bierdz (Phillip)
has said, "I know I am on in eight episodes in November and then the truth
is, I sort of disappear. My six-month contract is up. And I really want to
support the gay community, and I want the gay community to support me. I
would like the gay community to write to CBS and say, 'We want a gay
character on the air'."
Dog Gets New Bone
Dead Dog
Zapato will return from the grave as "Moose" on ABC's "Secret Life of the
American Teenager" where the mostly unwanted pooch will help deliver a baby.
Depending on how that goes, Zapato is expect to try his paw at art forgery
and possibly cancer experimentation.
Kitty Kitty, on the other hand, was last seen applying for unemployment to
support herself while she pens her memoirs. Kitty's plan is to do a book
tour and slam Y&R at every stop for it's inequality of treatment between the
feline actors and those of the dog persuasion. It seems that Fisher and
Zapato got to eat steak and Kitty was fed stale cat food from Gloria
Fisher's purse. Fisher the dog was heard saying that he is unhappy with the
amount of screen time that he is getting and will be exploring other
options. A set insider tells us that there's no truth to the rumor that
Kitty is leaving because Fisher spit in his face.
Family? It's All
"Bullshit"
Are we all
friends? No. Are we family? No. That family thing is bullshit."
Daily Daze
Cutthroats and Worthless
Contracts
When it comes to the reality that viewers are tired of the same old,
unbelievable storylines and that owners of corporations like Sony may want out
of the soap business, there seems to be a question of who will continue
watching mindless crap. Daily Daze
New D.A.?
Cole Howard
is reportedly coming back as the new District Attorney. That's the word on
the street as Victoria and J.T. Hellstrom part company leaving Victoria to
take up with one of her former husbands like so many other women in this
town do.
The Return of Malfunction
Winters
His
biological daughter suffering from cancer, it's about damn time Malcolm
Winters return to check on the poor Lily Ashby and so it is that role is set
to resume in November. Also on the outskirts of Genoa City is a man named
"Tucker". Described as a 55-60 year-old-maverick billionaire, Tucker should
be in the big city by November.
Wanted: Man For Ready
Made Family
Michelle
Stafford, 43, (Phyllis Summers Newman) is reportedly expecting a child, her
first, in December. She's also expecting a man will come along ready to jump
into a ready made family.
A surrogate pregnancy, single Stafford tried pretty much everything
including fertility treatments and surgeries to get pregnant subsequent to
deciding to start a family on her own.
"I never wavered in my desire to be a mother," says Stafford, adding she'll
be in the delivery room when another woman produces her child. She's also
figured out "the importance and reason for a partner. Dating men and telling
them I'm expecting in December is a little different. I know I just need to
find someone who wants the same things as I do."
In a country where so many are taking "happy pills", blocking their feelings
such that they can't feel love, Stafford will need lots of luck finding a
man to play daddy to another woman's baby. Oh wait! Is Jack Abbott
available?
Sucking
the Big One
Kristoff St.
John (Neil Winters) on the gay storyline that never was or will be and why
this soap opera sucks the big one.
"If you look at the storyline on our show with Adam and Rafe. That whole
thing petered out and turned out to be such a crock. And forgive me for
going there with it, but if you're going to do a gay storyline on the show,
then do something topical and current.
And what could be more topical than Proposition 8 in California but doing a
same sex marriage thing. You don't have to go there with that character
whose going through so many things - being blind, screwing over Victor,
doing the thing with Mary Jane, the baby with Ashley - man, come on. Don't
cheat the audience out of a really hot, good storyline that would reflect
what is actually happening out there in our world and in our nation.
That's the kind of stuff that bugs me. Maybe Hogan Sheffer wants to write
comical stuff with chipmunks and all that. If I get my head handed to me on
a platter for saying this then so be it. We need to get more
family-oriented, get back to the old school stuff, what originally made this
show what it is before I got there."
No Balls, No Glory, Gays
Scare Straights
Y&R scribe
Scott Hammer on why there won't be no stinking gay people in Genoa City. "At
this point, we are not doing a gay story, and we never actually were doing a
gay story."
And Phillip
Chancellor III is - asexual? Didn't he confess to being queer? Don't queers
have sex with other queers? Why can't Y&R get its collective head out of its
ass and face the reality?
