Commentary by Brent Kellogg July 14, 2009
Just yesterday I'd written how easy it is to predict how badly written soap
opera plots will twist and turn and here today we have truck driver Mac
Browning buying Cane Ashby's bar and you can almost see it won't be long
until Deacon the Demon, bar owner he, buys the bar from Mac because what
does she know of running a bar?
Poor Phillip. Poor Nina Webster. They both share a child and not once has he
asked about his son which is isn't strange considering how the men of Genoa
City have a knack for not seeing their kids, i.e.: Jack Abbott and Paul
Williams. Still, wouldn't a real man, even a gay one, have a slight interest
in his son? "How is little Phillip doing," Phillip might ask, and Nina could
say, "Oh, we call him Chance. Ain't that the cutest thing?" Phillip could
add, "Why do you call him Chance" and Nina could say, "You silly. His last
name is Chancellor. Chance. Get it?" Then Phillip could ask, "Why don't you
call yourself Nina Chancellor?" She could retort, "Because I'm not Daniel
Romalotti" and probing deeper he could quip, "The kid who thinks Danny
Romalotti is his father?" before asking if it's true Danny is gay which it
must be considering how a washed up "rock star" isn't married or has a
girlfriend. |
