Commentary by Brent Kellogg
July 8, 2009

Were you trying to figure out where Neil Winters went at a time his "baby girl" was "barely holding on" to dear life following the revelation that the man she married is a fraud? Wasn't that what Neil told the witchdoctor Olivia Winters and didn't he say Lily's "family" will help her get through whatever she's in, and please don't say it's grief. What "family" would that be? Lily's mother is dead. Her real father left town years ago never to be seen or heard from again. Her creepy aunt had more important things to do and the best family Lily had to draw on was orphan boy Devon Hamilton who just sort of disappeared after bringing Humpfree the dog by to lick away Lily's tears.

So where was Neil that he didn't see baby girl run off to see Cane Ashby, who earlier had been told by Neil to have no contact with Lily; sitting on the toilet? Better yet, how did Lily know where Cane would be? Luckily she found him at the home they shared as Mr. and Mrs. Ashby and do you not like the message on Lily's phone? "You've reached Mrs. Cane Ashby. Please leave a message."

Hmm, I gotta change my phone message to something like that because, like Lily, all my friends call me Mister Kellogg. To have a message, "Hi, this is Brent. I'm not in. You know what to do," would not impress my highfalutin society friends on the other side of town. You know, I'm just wondering who the hell calls Lily that she requires such a formal message? Where are Lily's friends? Where is only friend Colleen Carlton in Lily's time of need?

We shouldn't spend much time on stupidity such as this, but when it's all stupid you must wonder what was Cane thinking when he said that what he did, including the breaking of at least three or four laws, he did for Lily. Wow, how comforting for Lily to know that from day one Cane has lied to her. How smothering and intuitive of Neil to figure out too where Lily went and after pounding on Cane's door screamed, "I thought I told you to stay away from my daughter!" Ah, Neil. Lily went to see him. Try telling her to stay away from Cane. We know she won't, but maybe just once Lily will remind you she's chronologically an adult except for when she's such a whiner, a phase of which it seems will go on for some time as we're hearing Lily is due for another medical malady.
