Commentary by Brent Kellogg

September 15, 2009

First today an update on a weeks ago report about the death of one Colleen Carlton (no loss) and the need by Victor Newman of a new heart. The implication was that Colleen would drown in the same calm pond as her daddy did, but now it's been changed to Colleen being on life support (oh god please say it ain't so) because she was under water too long much the way Cassie Newman was.

Instead of dying damn it, Colleen will reportedly live except she will have irreversible brain damage and the family must agonize, and squabble, over whether to pull the plug.

While this is going on like it did when Victoria Newman Hellstrom was in a coma, Victor will have been shot by crazy Patty Williams and will need a new, okay, slightly used, heart. Since there's only one compatible heart available at the time, since Colleen won't be needing hers, word on the street is that Victor will get it and bet too there will be no complicated waiting lists or medical red tape to fight like poor people in similar circumstances would have to do.

Bet too that once he's got the blackest of hearts, Victor will change. Can you imagine a more feminine Victor? One who has the urge to show his nipples in public bars while standing on chairs? Think of the Internet possibilities when featured videos of said nipples hit YouTube. Picture the asexual Phillip Chancellor feeling like he hit pay dirt. Finally, the daddy figure Phillip has yearned so long for. If only Victor has frozen eggs tucked away somewhere maybe he and Phillip can have some beautiful kids together.

Isn't that what Cane and Lily Ashby are planning? Aren't Lily eggs on ice and as soon as she beats cancer they'll go on to have "beautiful kids" together? Instead of getting ahead of themselves, shouldn't they have those eggs tested for the cancer gene? Shouldn't Lily be tested for it? This new spun yarn of Lily having cancer won't be another of those miracle stories will it? Had cancer one day, a hysterectomy the next, eggs were saved, a chemotherapy treatment or two, and lo that was the end of that nightmare as Lily's eggs were scrambled and look at the Ashby's now all happy go-lucky with rug rats to raise.
