So it was that Jack couldn't ask an Assistant
District Attorney to pull some strings and make the
charges go away like Adam Wilson did. Maybe I'm
wrong, maybe I'm living in a progressive town, but
here in Oregon City trespassing is a misdemeanor.
Breakers of the law are told to get off the property
they've trespassed, given a citation, and told the
date of their court appearance. The DA could give a
shit about cases like this. But not in Genoa City.
Here, law breakers are locked up until they can post
bond and then, with their Harvard educations, think
they can leave the country.
Oh heavens yes. No sooner had Jack bailed him out
but what Adam was plotting with Jack. They'd go to
Mexico to find out what really happened aboard that
fishing boat Victor rented. They would discover that
mobster Walter Palin was on that boat and didn't
survive the storm. They would, no doubt, discover
Palin's body still rotting in a Mexican morgue at
$175 pecos per day and the poor town happy to pick
up the tab.
Sorry Adam. Jack said you can't leave the country
while you're facing charges of capital crime. You
must therefore stay behind while Jack goes to Mexico
alone. What? You're not sure why Jack wants you on
his team given that you both can't trust each other?
Silly boy. Jack's gonna go to Useless Style
Magazine's biggest competitor with Victor's story.
With a story of his own to tell, Adam will make the
story a more compelling read. Those expecting to
find news of fashion in Vogue will be sadly
disappointed. Jack need not worry either that
turncoat Adam will run straight to Victor.
To be fair and balanced, wasn't it nice to hear
Jack's confession? It only took years. When he told
wife Luan Volein that he'd never love any other
woman he was lying through his teeth. Jack quickly
forgot Luan, her daughter, and his son Keemo nearly
as fast as he forgot about his other son Kyle
Abbott.
All over the map, Jack's slutish wife Sharon was
said to have been volunteering her services at the
local food bank and the next thing Jack knew she was
in Chicago. Whatever for? She was also supposed to
meet with son Noah's school counselor and again,
whatever for? School just started. Is Noah in
trouble already? When will she stop babying that
boy? In all of my four years of high school I saw
the counselor once and that wasn't until my senior
year. Are they planning to have Noah skip three
years and go straight to college next year?
If I hear Phyllis Newman, or Nikki Chow, say again
that husband/son Nick Newman needs to get out from
under Victor's shadow I'm gonna scream. The
big-teeth boob recently accepted an unlimited line
of credit from daddy. How can he now expect to
escape the shadow? Moreover, it doesn't appear that
Nick would want to because he so desperately wants
to see Victor. Jesus! Shut the F up about this
already.
Laughable as it was, I'm guessing that with the
arrest of Lowell 'River' Baldwin, it'll behoove
lawyer Michael Baldwin to represent him. Said to be
just the greatest damn attorney Genoa City has had
since Christine 'Bug' Blair, you might thing Michael
would know better than to meet Lowell at the
Cafe/Diner named Eddy's where the lowest of the low
hang out so as to give the Jitter Joint a good name.
When the FBI has just searched your home for a
fugitive doesn't it make you want to meet with said
fugitive so you can be implicated? When your
precious law license is at risk, don't you check the
rear-view mirror frequently while en route to
Eddy's? Don't you know the Feds drive cars with the
letters FBI splashed all over them?
What was Lowell thinking? He knew the adjacent bus
depot was being watched by the fuzz, so he hangs
around the cafe and doesn't have the slightest hint
that the fuzz might look in the cafe? Infamous and
known throughout the city, Michael wasn't worried
someone would see him going into the cafe? Lowell
didn't tell him the depot was being watched? Lowell
knew Lauren Baldwin would be returning from a visit
with her mother where she'd developed the flu and
the flu was of the 24-hour type? Does that pretty
much explain why Lauren and her chatty baby went to
the cafe too? So that Lowell would get one and only
look at his grandson when not five minutes ago
Michael had told him there was no way he'd see the
kid? It was almost as bad as the many time Michael
had said he wanted to find daddy and upon finding
him kept saying he didn't want anything to do with
him, that Lowell was gone for good, and yet there
they were having a family reunion.
The real kick in the head was today (I'll report
more on that tomorrow) when an in jail Lowell was
told he better get a lawyer despite that the cop
said now that they have Lowell he won't be getting
out anytime soon. So what good would a lawyer be?
You'd think, being a guru and all, Lowell would have
heard about public defenders and demanded one. But
no, he had to whimper that he doesn't have a lawyer
and, well, you know where that will lead as a now
feeling sorry again for his daddy Michael will come
to the rescue and by some miracle either get him off
on a technicality, or petition the parole
board/governor for Lowell's immediate release from
prison like he did for Phyllis.
