Of course, Katherine was shocked to learn Clint was
behind the kidnapping. But first she had to find Rex
and get him away from Jill. Like a bloodhound,
Katherine tracked Rex to Colorado and got there just
in time to disrupt his wedding night.
As if Katherine didn't know, Mitchell told her that
everything Marge had done was not legal which meant
the marriage and business transactions were null and
void. Or should that be dull and void? Instead of
telling Jill and Rex that their marriage was void,
Katherine took her sweet time.
During that time, Rex teamed up with Jill to take
down local queen of daytime Leanna Love's I Hate
Men campaign. Rex posed as a guest on the show
and was photographed kissing Leanna. The photo was
published in RSM - oh wait - in the tabloids, but
Leanna's fans could have cared less. And if you can
believe it, all this time Clint was still free.
So Katherine arranged to host a surprise engagement
party for Rex and Jill at which John Abbott, who
Jill was also involved with, proposed. Trying to
convince John he'd had too much to drink, Jill
pushed the old man out the door for fear he'd have a
heart attack if he knew she'd been living with Rex.
Predictably, Jill's plan failed, so she went after
John freeing Katherine to pursue Rex.
Meanwhile, Brock told his mother to invite Tiny over
for dinner, but when Tiny saw that Ether was
pregnant, he took off. Brock tracked him down at a
local bar and gave Tiny the responsibility speech.
It didn't work.
It's been said that without storms hitting Genoa
City half the population might never have been born.
It was a dark and stormy day when Katherine helped
deliver Ether's baby which was named Kate. Knowing
her baby needed a daddy, Ether took drastic steps.
She clogged a drain and called Tiny to come fix it.
Showing Tiny his baby didn't move Tiny at all. He
told Ether he didn't want to be a father or a
husband and that was that.
Now it so happened that Clint was arrested, but by
1991 he'd broken out of jail and went straight to
the RoadKill Cafe. Dumb pig that she is, Gina agreed
to hide Clint at her place above the RoadKill. It
wasn't long before Brock came calling, asked Gina
what the hell, and as Brock left he was gunned down!
Running down a flight of stairs, Clint checked on
Brock only to get in the way of another bullet meant
for Brock. As a reward, Katherine gave Clint her
thanks. Gina put the RoadKill up for sale, and had
planned to leave GC with Clint, except that Clint
got religion and turned himself in.
While this was happening, Leanna had decided she
wanted to be inseminated with Rex's sperm. He
agreed, but didn't want to be a daddy so Leanna set
her sights on John. Jill and Katherine made a deal
to get each other's man back. Time for the
Masquerade Ball, host Rex got jealous when Katherine
threw a man she'd hired named Edward in his face.
Pretending to be suffering from chest pains, Rex had
Katherine keeping watch over his hospital bed. Jill
figured out what was happening, told Katherine who
was very pissed, but then Katherine and Rex
reconciled.
Damn, but what in 1992 Katherine contracted a lump
in her breast, kept it a secret from Rex, and had
the lump removed. Two years later, Ether was still
looking for someone to play daddy to her baby. She
placed a want-ad and a dude named Norman Peterson
came calling. Convincing Rex and Katherine to act as
the servants, as lady of the manor, Ether opened the
door and Katherine knew right away there was
something strange about Norman.
Employing an actor to play the role of preacher,
Katherine felt she was protecting Ether who married
Norman and had told him she was in Katherine's will.
After the honeymoon, Norman pressed Ether to ask for
her inheritance, she did, and Katherine agreed so
long as the money was held in Ether's name only.
Norman threw a fit and filed for divorce seeking
one-half of the inheritance as settlement. That's
when Katherine sprung the news that the marriage
wasn't legal and that Norman was SOL. Ether threw
him out, but Norman sneaked back with a gun.
Attempting to enter the Mausoleum safe, Norman was
caught by Rex, shot him dead, and fled the scene.
