Corner Stores
|
Commentary by Brent Kellogg October 22, 2009
Try, try as you might. You just can't feel sorry for the rich people in
Genoa City. First there's Billy Abbott in need of some spending money to buy
a fashion rag he saw in a store window, then he asks brother Jack for access
to his trust fund, is rejected and not once is asked what on earth he did
with all the money he surely made when running the family business in Hong
Kong. In town for a year or so, not counting the few days spent at the
family business here, Billy hasn't worked and yet was able to purchase and
remodel a rundown trailer from old man Murphy Chancellor, who found fame and
fortune when he just happened to be in the right place at the right time and
after helping old lady Katherine Chancellor find her mind, married and moved
into the Chancellor Mausoleum where today Murphy acts as a valet to earn his
keep. Speaking of money and who has it, where did Ashley Newman get hers? Did she scrimp and save before she went crazy? Did hubby Brad Carlton leave her a bundle of bucks? Would this explain why she agreed to loan brother Billy the money he needs? Did you hear Ashley say that Billy is the "best brother" a girl could ask for? Doesn't she know, hell, doesn't he know, biologically she ain't his sister. Could that explain why Billy lied to her face when he said he'd been turned down by every bank in town? Really? He had time to hit every bank, apply for a loan, and be rejected? |
