Addressing complaints about yesterday's Daze report
- that the front page top story about Adam Wilson
leaking the story about David Chow to the Financial
News Network - was not actually covered in the Daze,
please accept this explanation.
While writing the Daze, trying to cover all the
other crazy things going on, it didn't occur to me
that there was any importance of Adam telling Victor
Newman that he'd taken care of the chore to expose
David and that the story would break that evening.
It was only later that it struck me that FNN would
take what I assumed was an anonymous tip and run
with it. I couldn't imagine that Adam would have
given either one of his two names since surely FNN
would have made the connection between Newman
Enterprises and Jabot Cosmetics and seen the "tip"
as a corporate hit to discredit Jabot. At the very
least I assumed FNN would make an attempt to contact
Chow for his side before running with the story.
Silly me, FNN didn't do any fact checking, ran the
story, and made no attempt to make it fair or
balanced.
With David about to become toast, it won't matter
who leaked the story or that one of Jabot's CEO's
has an addiction. If the FNN needed a story, it
could have dug into Jabot overseer Katherine
Chancellor's past or executive Brad Carlton's for
some really juicy scandals. The FNN story was a
distraction designed to set the stage for Gloria
Bardwell to buy up Jabot stock and for the power
struggle with the Bardwells and Jill Abbott to
begin.
So. The real news is what happened today at the
Charity Gala. (Note: For fashion/style coverage see
Liza Van Horne's
fashion report) It's been written that Sabrina Newman
and David wouldn't die at the same time, but now we
learn Sabrina and David were riding in the same limo
when it rammed head on. You can imagine this,
right? You'll recall that Nikki Chow agreed to drive
to the gala with David. So what happened? Car
trouble at the last minute so they took a limo?
How Sabrina wound up in the limo with David after
the gala made a lot of sense too. Leaving early to
crack open a package named "Phillipe" waiting at the
Ponderosa, Victor told Sabrina if he didn't make it
back in time to drive her home he'd send a car for
her. When Victor didn't come, when there was no
apparent car, Sabrina hitched a ride with David
because the Ponderosa was "on his way". Assuming
David was going back to the Athletic Supporter, how
the sprawling Newman ranch could be on the way to
the city-centered AS, boggles the mind.
With David running around asking everyone if they'd
seen Nikki after she drank the morphine, he must
have assumed the jig was up which is why he didn't
have any qualms with the limo driver being different
than the one that drove him to the gala and was so
panicked over what he'd done he didn't think to tell
Sabrina that the ranch is nowhere near the AS.
