In fact, East Coast sales "doubled" over the last
issue. It wasn't the hideous cover that grabbed
readers, it was the controversial article about
Sabrina. See? Jack is a publishing whiz. He had a
vision. If only he had free reign over the magazine
there's no telling how successful he could make it.
So what is whorish wife Sharon's problem? That he
lied to her again? That he made Sharon look like an
idiot. God knows she doesn't need any help in that
department. So what if the article isn't true? It
sells magazines. Jack was only trying to protect
Sharon. Okay, he doesn't know why Sharon needs
protecting. The important thing is that Jack saved
"hundreds" of people their jobs.
Hundreds? Employees of USM? Where are they?
Invisible like Newman Ponderosa employees? The two who made it
possible for Abby Carlton's horse to get pregnant?
The horse is with child and Victor must remember to
call Abby with the news. Hello? Abby? This is Victor
Newman. You know, your father. Okay, so I'm daddy
#2, but it was my sperm what gave you life. Speaking
of which, your horse is going to have a baby. You
know, the horse I think you've ridden once. Would
you like to come visit when its born? Maybe we can
get your mommy to come too. No, my sweetheart, I'm
sure the scandal will be over by the time I remember
to call you again. Sabrina? She's around here
somewhere. Oops, sorry, she can't come to the phone.
Sabrina was too busy talking with Katherine
Chancellor who made the long journey to say she
doesn't believe a word of that repulsive article
which isn't worth the paper it's written on. Sabrina
must stop her sniveling; stop saying she's not
strong; hold her head high. Show those jealous
people what she's made of. They're just mad that
they can't be Victor's young wife. That's it! Get it
all out. Say you don't want to see that
hypocritical, back-stabbing, Victoria ever again for
the rest of your life. Feel better? No? Then by all
means I must tell you of the time my daughter Jill
Abbott hired Rex Sterling to seduce me. Boy, how the
tongues wagged, but Sabrina darling, I held my head
high. Okay, I was a drunk, but... Jesus girl! Will
you stop saying you don't know if you've got it in
you? You got Victor's baby in you didn't you? Then
what's the freaking problem? No, no. Everyone's not
against you. I'm not. Why else would I come all this
way? Doesn't it make sense that I would support you
when all my friends are those who hate your guts? By
the way, where's Victor? At the magazine telling
goofy Nick to publish a retraction? Reminding him
that Jack is pond scum, he told him so and that he
better damn well undo the damage done? Good for
Victor. Now I really must get back to my friends
Nikki and Victoria. Ta-ta!
Thank the gods Victor came back when he did as
Sabrina was on the verge of falling apart again. My
darling, have you ever heard the phase hold your
head high? You go to that damn charity luncheon. You
show them you're a Newman. And did I say hold your
head high? Ah what the hell, I'll go with you. Say,
have your seen any postcards from my grandson? I
hear Noah is writing home from Summer Camp. You
know, I bet he's grown an entire shoe size. Probably
needs new sneakers. Sneakers, my darling. Don't they
have sneakers in Paris? Forgive me my sweetheart. I
meant tennis shoes. Show's how old I'm getting, they
haven't been called sneakers since about 1993. You
know, I'd like to turn on the TV and see how the
market is doing, but by now all the stations are
covering our latest scandal so... what's that? We
don't have a TV? You sure? |
