With news that there's going to be at least one
death before the summer is over, it struck me: What
if it's Nikki Chow? Isn't it about time her luck ran out?
How many near-death experiences can one person
sustain before succumbing? Who would miss her? Okay,
there'd be a week or two of mourning with friends
and family members hauling Nikki's favorite things
out and eating her favorite foods, but then they'd
move on and we'd be spared the pain of witnessing
her next marriage and the next and the next.
Are you perhaps wondering too why Victor Newman wastes his
time with PI Paul 'Clueless' Williams and that boob
he's got in charge of Newman Enterprises Security,
J.T. Hellstrom? I seem to recall Victor learning
more about David Chow during one phone conversation than
Clueless and J.T. have learned in something like
three weeks. Finding the former tag-team match
together at a public restaurant this week, Victor
confirmed that they have been investigating David,
but was only semi-concerned that his security chief
hadn't told him about a serious threat to his
family. Asked why he'd been kept out of the loop,
Victor was told by Clueless that he and J.T. were
trying to be "covert".
Covert? In a public place when dealing with a man
who apparently had the means - between the time he
went to Las Vegas, back to Wisconsin, and out of
town "on business" for the 4th of July - to kill his
step-daughter and made it look like an accident when
he'd been told by Williams and Newman they were
watching him? A little late for covert, isn't it?
Ah, but it's so much fun watching the boob and
Clueless pretending to be PIs. The clever quips,
like "The stakes just got higher" when Clueless
learned of the step-daughter's death. David's
already thought to have killed at least two of his
former wives, so how could another death make the
stakes any higher? Was this a covert reference to
the dead wives and step-daughter being mere collateral damage, but
when Nikki could become the next victim Clueless and
the boob must get off their collective fat ass and
actually do something?
And if there's all this concern, if Nikki's life is
at risk, why hasn't Victor gone to the cops? Surely
he must know the Police Chief, he can afford to have
his own swat team watching David's every move, and
yet with all his power Victor seems powerless. Of
course, it doesn't help that no matter how many
times she's been told what a dangerous man David is
- by
David himself - no matter the worried looks of shock
on her face, Nikki can't help but wallow in denial.
It must be the denial that has Nikki so confused.
When that bitch of a daughter, Victoria Hellstrom told her
today that she told Victor about Sabrina's old
lover, Nikki was astounded. "That's not like you,"
she puked.
