The words of real-life priest, Pat Connor, born in
Australia and based in New Jersey, gave me pause.
Not because a heretofore unknown friend of Cane
Ashby's is coming from Australia for a visit, but
because Father Connor has suggested that women
"never marry a man who has no friends".
If applied to the ladies of Genoa City who in this
town would be married? Nikki Chow comes to mind. How
many men without friends has she married? Why hasn't
she learned? She admits to not knowing much about
David Chow, but despite the mounting evidence that
David is evil, said yesterday that David's a hard
worker and a good man who would never hurt her.
People have died in David's wake, his former step
daughter is expected to die soon from a drug
overdose, but that's okay, more trouble must befall
Nikki until Victor Newman comes along to save her as
we'd predicted from the outset of this latest round
of marriage. And all because Nikki never learns.
If we thought that Genoa City is the only place
where men have few if any friends, Father Connor
says, "I am always amazed at the number of men I
have counseled who have no friends."
That might explain then why Brad Carlton and Jill
Abbott will team up again. With the Bardwells, and
maybe Michael Baldwin, out to take Jabot Cosmetics
over, they'll need someone to turn to. Jill has no
friends, nor does Brad. The plan was hatched today
when Gloria suspected that Jack has a hankering to
get back to his "old stomping grounds", and Jack
himself said he misses that "smell" found only at
Jabot. That smell of toxic chemicals being brewed
deep down in the Jabot dungeon, no doubt.
And what of the court order preventing Jack from so
much as stepping inside Jabot? Not that Jack obeys
it, Jeff Bardwell said today that all he and Gloria
have to do is invest in Jabot and not only will
Gloria be back in power, she'll have a major
influence over Chancellor Industries as well. No
matter that Jeff said Gloria and Jack working
together will never happen, it was by no accident
that a few days ago Jack had a vision of himself at
the Jabot helm with Jill as his secretary. Will all
this cause Katherine Chancellor to suspect that Jill
isn't her daughter and if so it would make Cane not
Katherine's grandson? Would it bring to past the old
rumor that Cane was scamming both women?
