July 3, 2008
Like recurring cancer flaring up at unexpected times
and in unexpected places, brace yourself for what
I'm guessing will be the start of a 4th of
July celebration in Genoa City to be held at the
Abbott pool. Sit back, slather on some ointment, and
shudder as you may not believe who some of the
guests are.
Members of the Newman family!
Okay, so we know Nick and Phyllis Newman are bedbug
pals with Jack and Sharon Abbott, that Victoria
Hellstrom is Nick's sister, that J.T. Hellstrom does
something called security at Newman Enterprises, that J.T. has agreed to keep
investigating David Chow on Newman time, and to keep
Nikki Chow safe despite Victoria's bitching today
that J.T. only told her now that he dug up some dirt
on David, but why the concern that baby Reed
Hellstrom might swim in the pool before he's potty
trained when who knows what intestinal worms and
parasites Gloria Bardwell, Wally Wallingford and
others have left in the pool? It's not like anyone
cleans the pool. There hasn't been a hedge
clipper/pool boy at the Abbott's since Brad Carlton
left.
Not exactly Nick's best bud, will Adam Wilson be
invited to the party as Heather Steven's date? When
Heather was told this week by Victoria to watch who
she sleeps with, why would she go to the Newman
Ponderosa for a late night swim? Why would she tell
Adam there's a "history" between her and Victor
subsequent to her failed attempt to put the great
man behind bars, and then go with him to the ranch?
Does Heather have a death wish? What slimy slugs
crawled off her body and into the pool? While
Heather had come prepared, in that she must have
known Adam would ask her to go swimming and thus was
already wearing a bikini, she didn't need to use the
pool house to change, but once inside the main house
went off to change. Where? In the pool house? Why
not change before leaving the pool? So she could
drip water all over Victor's million-dollar carpet?
How asinine was it of Adam to tell Heather he thought
his mother was a good judge of character, and yet
apparently missed that Victor is capable of murder?
Who says such shit about a man without whom Adam
might actually have to work for a living? Hope Adams
was blind! She was smitten with Victor. In Hope's
eyes, Victor could do no wrong, except perhaps for
when he lost interest in her not long after their
wedding. And here moron boy, knowing only what
Heather had told him, is convinced that daddy is
capable of murder? It wouldn't be that Heather has a
case of sour grapes? That like her father, Heather
is a failure.
How rude was it for Adam to tell Victor that Heather
was only doing her job when working for the District
Attorney she tried to pin a murder on him that he
didn't commit, and that Victor should get over it?
How right on when Victor told Adam that Heather is
not welcome in his home? It's not like anyone
listens, Victor told Brad the same thing once, but
that didn't stop Brad from coming by. So instead of
doing his homework, Adam will hack tomorrow that he
doesn't have to take orders when he's at home, and
too bad Victor won't tell him to pack his crap and
get out.
Still not sure where the party they keep talking
about is being held, with Nick and Phyllis thanking
Amber Moore and Professor Gerbil for coming into the
office so late at night so they could get to a
party, were you wondering about the Abbott pool
house? Don't Jeff and Gloria Bardwell live there
now? Was that the deal this week when Jack Abbott,
semi-upset that Gloria is living there, didn't mind
that Jeff will move in too because it's what his
dead father would want? Will Gloria say it's okay
for guests to undress in her makeshift, smells like
dog, home?
Is the pool party part of Restless Style magazine's
lobbying its best advertisers? Does that mean Ashley
Abbott will be on hand, or Felicia from Forrester
Creations? What about the not so best advertisers?
Are they to be snubbed? Don't they pay big bucks to
run their ads in what has become a teen mag? What an
enticement. Spend millions, get invited to a pool
party. Spend thousands, to hell with you. Because
Adam represents one of those favored advertisers,
will that be his pass to the party? Think Victor will be pissed to
learn that his son is cavorting with the enemy? What
happened to that talk he was supposed to have with
junior following the wedding scandal?
Does any of this matter so long as there aren't any
flag-waving speeches? Probably not.
So what about those who won't be going to end of the
week parties? Will the Jitter Joint be open as
usual? The Athletic Supporter? Indigo? Open for
breakfast? Remember the 2003 4th of July?
