There's good news, and bad news.
The good: Tyra Hamilton is leaving town and taking
that annoying kid with her!
The bad: They'll both be back.
Where are they going? For starters, Tyra is taking
sister It to that school of arts in New Hampshire.
You know, the one Katherine Chancellor arranged
because the old white woman is concerned about the
education of a black kid she barely knows. It
happens all the time. Strangers arrive in the big
city, Katherine learns they're related to her good
friend Neil Winters, and she's at the door with a
free scholarship.
The school's admissions office calls the number Tyra
listed on the application, that of one Mr. Winters,
a small child answers, says nobody named Yolanda
Hamilton lives there, and then hangs up. The person
calling doesn't suspect fraud because hey, she could
have got a wrong number. But she doesn't call back.
She isn't, apparently, able to confirm anything on
the application, and yet Katherine, having said
she'd go along with Tyra's misrepresentation, seems
to have pulled the strings because in a flash It has
been accepted and on her way "tomorrow" to New
Hampshire!
Oh yes! We learned today, after Lily Winters and
brother Devon Hamilton went out of their way to
convince It that she must accept the opportunity of
a lifetime, after It asked why she must go to school
and Devon does not because Devon is a quick study
and if she wants to write music like Devon does It
will damn well go to school, It said she'll go. But
she must leave tomorrow!
It wouldn't be so bad if we never saw It or Tyra
again, but for sure Tyra will be back because she
and Neil have a thing for each other. And as soon as
she's got a degree in music, or something, in a week
or so, It will be back because her brother is creepy
and always wanted a sister.
Creepy too is the news that Ether Valentine's kid,
Kate, stashed away in a boarding school since birth,
is all grown up and going by the name Chloe
Mitchell. You gotta be wondering how this could be.
Did someone snatch Kate from the school? Did the
school contact Ether to say they haven't seen her
kid? Could it be that like horse face Grace Turner
and Tony Viscardi, the school simply handed Kate
over to strangers? Remember when Turner and Viscardi
showed up on Millie Johnson's doorstep, said they
wanted to take Cassie Newman to a new life, and
Millie let them take her?
That Kate is Chloe comes at a time when Chloe has
eloped with Cane Ashby. If you've ever eloped, you
know that means running off to another city or
state. But not for the soon to be Ashby's. They ran
down to City Hall for a very secretive wedding and
where the clerks ask why the brides don't have
bouquets! Don't worry about anyone finding out
either. The Press is not hounding the new CEO of a
major cosmetics company.
