How family values-like was it when Paul told Heather
Stevens, "I'm a dad. That's what dad's do," when she
said he didn't have to rush to the hospital to see
her because there's really not much wrong with her
except she's suffering from stress. How patronizing
was it for Heather to have reminded Paul he's known
Victor for years and for Paul to say, yeah, he's
learned to be ready for anything Victor throws at
him. Murder, kidnapping, international intrigue,
he's always dealt with it and sent Victor a bill.
As low girl on the District Attorney's totem pole,
when Heather hasn't done much since returning to the
D.A.'s office and has time to hang around with VAN
telling tales out of Princeton, Chicago's D.A.
Office should be concerned that Heather will play a
role in the reopening of a David Chow murder case.
If Heather is so easily stressed, she might want to
find another line of work.
Never mind that VAN was crying today because he's
only known Victor for six months, and with his
degree from Harvard doesn't know an alleged
beneficiary must wait until the will is read before
he can assume to take control of Newman Enterprises
and fire the No. 2 guy who should have an iron-clad
contract preventing such termination, how about Neil
practically crying today that Victor was "like a
father to me"?
Neil, my man, let's go to the videotape. See all
those times Victor treated you like a second class
citizen? How often were you passed over for
promotion? How many times have you been told you
aren't a Newman? How many times have you quit and
hacked with your dead wife that the Newmans think
they're better than everyone else? And what of
Neil's real daddy? His mother?
So. For all the madness today, what's missing?
Enough worry about Victor to go around - check.
Members of the Newman family putting on their sad
face - check. Jack Abbott saying he won't believe
Victor is dead until he sees the corpse - check. The
release of another issue of Useless Style Magazine
containing an article written by a Newman smearing a
former Newman and more articles to come written by a
former Newman smearing a current Newman - check,
uncheck and checkmate!
Same as it ever was, you may recall that following
the Clear Springs disaster, with Jack and Nick all
but kissing each other on the lips, it was said then
that the hating was over. People would come together
like never before and all would be one with the
world. You will recall too that the hating didn't
end. It started the moment Victoria Hellstrom went
into a coma. where in fact, she is now. Not that she
is one, what woman, aware that her father is
missing, would leave town on business and not be
answering her phone - unless - the cellphone tower
in Mexico also relayed calls to Dubai.
