This being Friday, and me always wanting to get a
head start on the weekend, coming into possession of
some very "psychological intrigue", I thought why
write in detail about what happened today in Genoa
City when I can pass it along? It's not like you
weren't expecting that Victor Newman will be
"presumed dead" and this would drive Nikki Chow back
to drinking.
The clue comes on Monday when a drunken Nikki phones
home. She calls Katherine Chancellor and slurs her
words so much Katherine asks if she's hitting the
sauce.
Of course she must be. It was written on the tea
leaves. Someone so close to falling off the wagon,
Nikki doesn't have an AA sponsor she can call. She
doesn't go to AA meetings. She dabbles with her
addiction alone and it just doesn't work that way.
Not even in crazy Genoa City.
Still in Mexico with clueless PI Paul Williams on a
mission so dangerous she was advised not to get
involved in when Paul got word today that his
daughter Heaven Stevens had nearly fainted and taken
to the God Have Mercy Hospital, when thanks to a
satellite phone he'd brought along in the event
conventional cell phone towers in Mexican might be
hit by lightening, and one was, when he was told
that the Mob has put out a hit on Walter Palin, the
mobster known to frequent the Mexican coast, Paul
took off. He left a fragile, know to hit the bottle
when her life is in crisis as it always is, Nikki
alone.
With little hope to go on, imagine Nikki's good
fortune when the local Federallies showed up to
personally inform her that the boat Victor was
thought to be aboard had washed up on shore and the
news about Victor wasn't good. It rarely is.
Calling her goofy son again, Nick Newman had finally
got off his ass and was aboard a plane when the call
came in. Nikki said that Victor was "presumed dead"
because she, nor the Federallies, or anyone else it
sees was aware that Victor had disguised himself
before taking over the role of captain of the ship
which it might be safe to say was not the Minnow.
We're told that this time it'll be "different" than
the other times. Last time there was the burned out
shell of a Mercedes and little else. This time there
is "concrete evidence" that he's dead. Unless Walter
Palin had Victor fitted for cinder block shoes,
maybe cut of his middle finger and sent it to the
family, don't expect any definitive identifying body
parts.
The family, of course, will cope. The Newman kids
will fret. Nick, and Victoria Hellstrom were
written out of the will leaving Victor Adam Newman
the beneficiary with the most to gain.
So, as the world awaits the outcome, there will be
other pressing events to consider. Like the Cane
Ashby/Chloe Mitchell/Lily Winters love triangle.
Secrets and lies will be revealed. It won't be what
we expect because we fully expect Lily and Cane were
meant to be together.
Daniel Romalotti was meant to be an "artist". There
was never any indication a year ago that Daniel
could craw more than stick people in crayon, but now
he's replaced Van Gogh. With his tin ear, Devon
Hamilton would have been the better choice, but
that's another story. A hunk in demand, Daniel has
his own love triangle. Who to choose? The baby
Colleen Carlton, or the hot in bed, much older Amber
Moore.
