And like always, there will be no hell to pay. Nikki
and Victor are blowhards. Victor has had a million
opportunities to take Jack Abbott down, and yet Jack
is right now plotting to expose Nikki's married to a
killer nightmare. Also on Victor's list, is once
neglected son Adam Wilson. While Adam has changed
his name again, he's still being addressed as Adam.
He's seized control of Newman Enterprises without
board approval, or any approval except what he gave
himself. Stockholders are not concerned that a geek
with six months experience is running a
multi-national conglomerate. After all, stockholders
applauded the Ashby nomination over at Jabot.
But let word get out that the co-CEO of Jabot was a
gambling man, there is fear. The price of stock
plummets. Jabot executives wring their hands and
wonder for the umpteenth time how the company will
survive until Jill says that an internal audit shows
that David Chow had no impact on the company.
His ass-kissing habit difficult to kick, told that
he's not a Newman, NE No. 2 guy Neil Winters was
semi-happy to accept being sent to the back of the
bus while Adam did the driving. But in the daze
ahead, Neil will get a message. Perhaps the
whispering pines will call to him, or Jana Hawkes
will predict his future, whatever the means there
will be sufficient notice of power given. Neil's the
boss. Adam is the slave. My, what a turn of events
as Adam blames the Newman kids; the diaper-wearing
Nick, and his creepy sister, Victoria Hellstrom.
Yes, the children no longer work for NE, but
suddenly Nick and Victoria are worried about the
business although Nick has told Adam repeatedly to
stop worrying about the business. Cut out of the
will, Victoria will join the battle. She will, no
doubt, work her way back into daddy's company and
subsequently into daddy's good grace so that six
months from now she can lash out at daddy again.
For all the crazy, same as it always was, twists and
turns. The most amazing will be when Kevin Fisher
and his bride are married in Malibu. I've already
asked how it can be that Lowell 'River' Baldwin will
learn of the wedding and be there looking like
Ghandi with his white pajamas, orange shawl and
amulet around his neck, but what hasn't been asked
is how Michael Baldwin, having seen a recent photo
of his father, won't recognize the man sitting in a
yoga position across from his mother, Gloria
Bardwell.
Oh, and what of Jeff and Gloria Bardwell's plot to
takeover Jabot? Are business coups so easy that they
need only buy up Jabot stock and then wait until
after weddings and stuff until they're good and
ready? Not quite. All they need is for Jack Abbott
to throw in with them. Jack probably will because
he's power hungry. All those months of fighting with
Gloria and Jeff over control of the Abbott "mansion"
have been cast aside. What of the court order
banning Jack from so much as entering the Jabot
building? Gloria's got the answer. The court ruled
that Jack couldn't be CEO, but there was nothing
about Jack having a controlling interest. If they
really want to join forces, the Bardwells might
enlist the support of Traci Connelly.
Traveling all the way from New York City for a
stockholders meeting, something she rarely does, and
this time carried with her faux sister Ashley
Abbott's proxy along with about fifty pounds of lard
on her ass, Traci didn't appear to have any idea
what she was doing. She had to ask Brad what was
going on, and he of course sucked up hoping to
enlist her support for him to be CEO. Traci would do
this because she loved Brad so much she married him
twice. She fought tooth and nail to keep daughter
Colleen away from him, but you know what? All that
seems like millions of years ago.
By far the best thing to happen today was the return
of Noah Newman. Summoned to the Ponderosa, when Nick
drove up the FBI did not pounce on him like it did
Nikki, who the day before told the FBI she's "Mrs.
Victor Newman." Thought to be camped out in the
Newman West Wing waiting for a ransom call, when
Nick called out for someone, anyone, not one of the
two FBI agents came forth. Finally, out walked a new
and improved Noah.
Nick was not surprised. He said that Noah has
"grown". Noah said it was thanks to all the "health
food at camp", but not a word was said about how
Noah aged five years, while Nick regressed five
years. As to how he made it back to the city, Noah
said that after hearing about "grandpa" Victor, he
caught a Greyhound part of the way, and hitchhiked
the rest. Rich kid that he is, Noah apparently could
not afford full bus fare. He would therefore put
himself at risk of kidnapping by thumbing a ride.
Oh, wait. It's only Victor the Mob could have
kidnapped. Damn it, son. What did we tell you about
hitchhiking? Your mama is gonna scold you good, and
then let you do whatever you want because, well, you
aren't a kid anymore.
